Kaliningrad

Sightseeing tour in Kaliningrad includes most of the main sights of the city: Fighting Bisons monument, Victory square, the monument to Peter the Great in front of the building of the headquarters of the Baltic navy, tha drama theatre, Amalienau - the district where old german villas are located. One will also see the old fortifications, King's Gate and Sackheimer Gate, and of course the calling card of the city - the Cathedral, where the grave of one of the most famous german philosophers Immanuel Kant.
After the lunch the tour continues to Kneiphof Island (Fishmen's Village) and visit the only amber museum in the country, which is located in a tower built in the ,iddle of the XIX century on a bank of a picturesque lake.

Through the centuries of its history Königsberg has been an impregnable fortress until april, 1945. The town gate, towers, bastions and forts preserved in Kaliningrad are masterpieces of European military engineering. The program of this day includes seeing the inner fortifications of the city: the defensive wall, the moat, Don Tower, bastion Oberteich, barracs Kronprince, bastion Grolman and the city gate, as well as the monuments to the heroes of World War 1 and World War 2, and the Victory Park.

A visit to the museum "Königsberg-45. Final assault" with its 3-dimensional panorama provides a unique opportunity to experience the battle between Soviet and German armies in april 1945. A visitor finds himself in the middle of the battle and hears guns and cannons shooting.

After the lunch the program continues to the outer fortifications, which includes fort "King Friedrich Wilhelm 3", former part of Königsberg's defense line including 12 powerful forts, which is now a memorial.

Yantarnyi, or as it was called before the World War II, Palmniken, is the richest amber field in the world. There is a special viewpoint to observe industrial amber mining. One can even try himself as a miner and mine a little piece of "the sun stone" to keep it as a memory. There is also the Amber Pyramide there, which took 800 kilograms of amber to construct.
The old town of Yantarnyi is a must-see with its Lutheran church built year 1892. While walking to the seashore one can also see the palace-like building of hotel Sloss and the old Bekker park. The Yantarnyi beach is the only beach in Russia which managed to get "the blue flag" - a mark that confirms the perfect quality.

Baltiysk is the westernmost town in Russia. It used to be a closed military base of the Baltic navy, which was the gate to Kaliningrad commercial and military harbours. One can find out about the history of Kaliningrad navy which was founded by Peter the Great, and see the monument to the Emperor, as well as the lighthouse and the medieval Swedish fortress built in the middle of the XVIIth century which is still a military object. The biggest horse statue (to empress Elizaveta), built in 2004, also has a viewpoint to enjoy the panorama of Baltic kosa, the strait and vessels.
